Guinea aims to improve refereeing with new training for officials.

The second phase of the referee development program began on April 16 in Conakry, aiming to improve basketball officiating in Guinea. Fifteen referees—including eight women—participated in a Level 1 workshop led by Algerian instructor Kamal Hamoutene, focusing on rules, game management, and essential skills. This program, supported by the National Olympic and Sports Committee of Guinea, emphasizes inclusion and the modernization of refereeing. Concurrently, similar initiatives are underway in North Africa—particularly in Libya—where specialized training sessions aim to harmonize officiating standards across the region.
